🔗 Why connect Wisewand to WordPress?

To publish your articles directly from Wisewand to your WordPress site, you first need to create a connection between the two platforms. This connection is secure and uses an application password — meaning the Wisewand team will never have access to your site or your main password. 🔒

🧩 Before you start

Make sure you have access to:

  • Your Wisewand dashboard

  • Your WordPress site URL

  • Login credentials for a WordPress user account (ideally a dedicated account for Wisewand)

💡 Tip: We recommend using a custom username instead of “WiseWand” for your WordPress account, since your articles will be published under that author name.

⚙️ Steps to connect Wisewand to WordPress

🆕 Step 1 — Create a new connection in Wisewand

  • Click Connection in the bottom-left menu

  • Click Add a connection

  • Give your connection a name (e.g., your site name)

  • Enter your WordPress site URL

👤 Step 2 — Enter your WordPress username

In the Username field:

  • Enter the username of the WordPress account you want to use for publishing

You can use an existing account — no need to create a new one.

📌 Important: This username will appear as the author name for articles published via Wisewand. Choose it carefully.

🔐 Step 3 — Generate a WordPress application password

  1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard

  2. Go to the user profile concerned

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page

  4. In Application Passwords, enter a name (e.g., Wisewand)

  5. Click Add New Application Password

  6. Copy the generated password immediately

⚠️ It will only be shown once.

✅ Step 4 — Finalize the connection in Wisewand

  • Return to Wisewand

  • Paste the application password into the corresponding field

  • Click Save

👉 Once saved, your WordPress categories and authors will automatically sync with Wisewand.

🚀 What you can do after connecting

Once your WordPress site is connected, you can:

  • Publish articles to a specific category

  • Choose the author name for publication

  • Set custom permissions for each article

💡 These options are explained in other help guides dedicated to publishing and permission management.
